Agile Workplace Design for a Small Business Hub
Tallahassee Community College’s Center for Innovation is a new commercial space connecting the public sector, private businesses, and nonprofit organizations. Just a few blocks from the state’s Capitol building, this newly renovated multi-use, 34,000-square-foot rental space hosts private office suites integrated with the latest technology, creating a synergized workspace for many diverse businesses.
In partnership with Architects Lewis + Whitlock (ALW), a Tallahassee-based architectural design firm bridging people, culture, and environment, Perdue presented a visual concept that functionally aligns with the center’s intended purpose. Tallahassee Community College envisioned a flexible, modern furniture and technology design that could easily modify and evolve with new tech advancements.
As a Premier Steelcase Partner, Perdue created a full-service experience for Tallahassee Community College, using Steelcase insight and its expansive catalog of sustainable workplace products.
To create an agile, cohesive workspace solution, ALW and Perdue sourced a selection of interchangeable space-dividing architecture, workstations, seating, and elevated finishes that pair well with any business setting. Key products, such as Steelcase Elective Elements desking and Glass Selections modular walls, provided a high-performing, minimalistic aesthetic throughout the center’s landscape. With this design, the innovation center can adjust to changing needs, maximize space efficiency, and accommodate guests, while maintaining a similar style in every room.
The design also features Steelcase Flex tables, Series 2 task seating, Marien152 guest and conference seating, Coalesse Hosu, Bob, Lagunitas lounge seating, and Privacy Walls.
“Perdue’s talented team was integral to the completion of [Tallahassee Community College’s] Center for Innovation renovation project. We aimed to provide innovative workplace solutions that offered maximum flexibility with a creative flare,” said Emily Ely, RID., ALW Senior Interior Designer. “By utilizing Perdue’s wide range of offerings, we were able to take advantage of the building’s unusual geometry and subsequent unusable space, adding functional workspace in unexpected locations. Their team’s diligence and expertise were of great value.”
