Modern Workplace Furniture Design Enhances Productivity at Law Enforcement Center
Recently, the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Pensacola Regional Operations Center’s signed a 25-year lease for a new 78,000 square-foot facility. The building gives the department additional space to evolve law enforcement and forensic laboratory operations, accommodate workloads, and better serve the needs of local and statewide communities. Transitioning from a private-office landscape to an open-office concept, FDLE needed an office furniture design suitable for better engagement and an agile workspace design partner to work alongside ongoing construction.
As a leading office furniture design company and the premier Northeast Florida Steelcase partner, Perdue cultivated a modern workplace furniture design solution that met the specific needs of the operation center. While the building was under construction, access points were limited creating a challenge for furniture delivery and installation. To overcome this challenge, the project was split into two phases to integrate with the construction process, temporarily storing incoming FF&E deliveries due to construction delays.
Perdue’s team of experts organized the seamless installation of the furnishings on dual floors within a strict timeline. Using CET Designer’s cutting-edge space planning technology, we helped unlock optimal products and layouts for peak performance and productivity by providing 3D rendering visuals. A last-minute change to the floor plan occurred, causing our workplace design experts to quickly pivot furniture layout specifications to accommodate new concrete pillars.
Design elements, such as security, low-profile finishes, and accessibility, were essential for an efficient law enforcement environment. The facility interview rooms’ furniture design includes minimalistic Steelcase Universal tables and Move chairs, offering a versatile solution for a one-on-one setting and low comfort for effective communication between law enforcement officers and individuals. Shared spaces are furnished with collaborative tables and chairs for simple reconfiguration and storage throughout various settings. Steelcase’s Groupwork collection provides multipurpose design to support dynamic teamwork for FDLE’s training room, police wiretap room, and collaboration areas. To compliment its open-space landscape, Steelcase Answer Panel Systems formulate a clean, open-office workstation design that can adapt as needs change.
