Classroom Furniture and Library Refresh for Catholic School
Dedicated to fostering a safe, educational environment, San Jose Catholic School (SJCS) envisioned a modern furniture design that compliments its new renovations and supports the academic excellence of students.
After decades of providing faith-based education for students in Jacksonville, SJCS’s beautiful, Spanish-influenced campus has been renewed with state-of-the-art classrooms, media centers, science labs, and other community spaces. SJCS partnered with Perdue to curate a cohesive furniture landscape featuring active learning components for optimum movement and collaboration.
With a goal to standardize the classroom environment, Perdue was tasked with procuring new furniture pieces that not only met regulations but would also align with teacher preferences and allow for personal style.
As a North Florida leader of commercial furniture interiors and premier Steelcase Jacksonville dealer, Perdue was equipped to procure and pair durable products with SJCS’s newly designed interior finishes. The project began with furnishing the school’s renovated library, which now features a media center of collaborative tables, library seating, and multimedia production screens for presentations. Also, different height variations of ottomans were incorporated to accommodate all grade levels.
“Perdue was a pleasure to work within the design and possible options for our school classroom needs,” said Jennifer Swain, Principal of San Jose Catholic School. “The installers were wonderful and so accommodating to our space. They took the time to verify seat and desk height with the individual teachers and were a joy to have on campus.”
Using Smith Systems’ collection of flexible products, such as Elemental Flower Tables and Groove Stack Chairs the new library enables diverse learning, knowledge sharing, and engagement amongst students. For greater mobility, classrooms were decorated with Hon SmartLink classroom desks and seating, providing a lightweight option to arrange or rearrange furniture according to lesson plans. Also, Hon Build classroom tables are durable and can be configured for social interaction or focused study time.
