Innovative Workspace Design for a Creative Incubator
The Jacksonville Transportation Authority (JTA) and JAXUSA Partnership, a private nonprofit division of JAX Chamber, collaborated to develop an open innovation center that encourages creativity and helps usher the next generation of local entrepreneurs toward their desired career journey.
JAXUSA’s mission is to be a catalyst to Jacksonville’s regional economic development and an innovation ecosystem of unique resources, overseeing the efforts of Northeast Florida’s seven counties. For its new open space located on the second level of the Jacksonville Regional Transportation Center at LaVilla, JAXUSA envisioned a vibrant, best-in-class creative incubator design for innovative thinking, enhanced mobility, and an environment for talent development.
JAXUSA partnered with Haskell, a global brand providing architectural, engineering, and construction solutions, to construct the open innovation center. Haskell enlisted the help of Perdue, North Florida’s leader in workplace design solutions, to create a modern, colorful, and contemporary furniture design that reflects the advanced innovative thinking of JAXUSA’s accelerator space.
“Through their active participation the Perdue team was able to capture our vision and furnish our dreams of an innovative space that could change the creative culture of Northeast Florida,” said Carlton Robinson, JAXUSA Partnership Chief Innovation Officer.
“Our working relationship with Perdue was very collaborative. We were impressed by the Perdue team’s client-focused culture and willingness to adapt to changing conditions,” said Nihal Alwakeel, Haskell Design Manager.
As North Florida’s premier Steelcase partner, Perdue crafted a custom design from a catalog of Steelcase premium products and design partners, such as Coalesse, Polyvision, and AMQ. The project featured the procurement and installation of FF&E, including height adjustable desks, mobile mediascapes, lounge seating, collaborative seating, mobile chairs with tablet arms, decorative lighting, mobile power, and privacy screens.
