Office Furniture Space Planning for New Headquarters
American Roll-On Roll-Off Carrier (ARC) provides global logistics and shipping services to the U.S. Government. ARC and its U.S. affiliates own and manage the largest U.S.-flag roll-on roll-off (Ro-Ro) fleet. This includes providing American-owned, managed, and crewed Ro-Ro shipping and intermodal services committed to the requirements of the Department of Defense, other U.S. Government departments and agencies, and commercial customers. ARC planned to move its headquarters from Parsippany, New Jersey to Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida. Because they were establishing a completely new workplace 2,000 miles away from their previous headquarters, ARC needed a partner they could trust to create a space optimized for employees prior to the move. They were looking for a partner capable of maximizing the footprint while making it feel open and aesthetically consistent with their other corporate offices.
Because Perdue® is a subsidiary of America’s largest commercial mover, Suddath®, ARC received a complete solution that included office relocation services, furniture space planning and workplace technology solutions, all executed through the same organization, which increased alignment across all aspects of the project and streamlined the process.
As North Florida’s premier Steelcase partner, Perdue gave ARC access to a range of products and solutions for the world’s leading office furniture manufacturer. Using the cutting-edge tools and techniques, we made it easy to see how those products would look throughout the office with virtual renderings of the new office space. This ensured the design aligned with the goals of the organization as well as matched the look and feel of their brand.
To promote privacy while offering long-term flexibility for change and growth with the business, Perdue included a Steelcase Privacy Wall with Takeform Film for a custom look that featured ARC’s ship names from their fleet in a range of fonts, font sizes and translucency. Using Steelcase’s lighting solutions, Perdue incorporates lighting fixtures to coordinate with the building design and create a classic, yet modern, casual, relaxed ambiance for this headquarters facility. Through a combination of private and open offices with collaborative lounge spaces, Perdue helped ARC create an environment that fosters innovation and engagement, also focused work for a variety of spaces to meet employees’ changing needs. Private offices featured Elective Elements with Gesture Chairs and Steelcase West Elm guest chairs the conference space has OFS and Sit on It for room tables and seating, and workstations feature Answer Workstations with Amia Task chairs.
To complete the project, Perdue’s sister company, Phase Integration, provided technology design and construction management services. Known for helping organizations reach new levels of performance by bridging the gap between facilities and integrated office technology, Phase Integration added digital displays and signage to five offices, two conference rooms and a common area in ARC’s new headquarters to elevate the employee and customer experience.
